On the second floor of Florida Atlantic’s Tom Oxley Athletic Center, on the southwest side of the building, the two sides of Lane Kiffin meet.
One side is Lane Kiffin, the coach — the 42-year-old offensive mastermind, former Oakland Raiders, Tennessee and USC coach, and current first-year coach at FAU. The other side is Lane Kiffin, the person — the sandy brown-haired, visor-toting, flip-flop-wearing father of three.
To Kiffin’s left sits a television, paused on film from one of FAU’s early August practices. To his right, rows of old binders are stacked side-by-side, USC game plans mingling with his fall camp notes from 2009 at Tennessee.
