Why the four teenagers FC Dallas signed in the past year have been so limited this season

Struggling for victories hasn't been the only abnormal part of FC Dallas' season this year.

When FCD travels to face Minnesota United on Saturday looking to snap a nine-match winless streak, it's unlikely any player younger than 22 will be on the field.

That's become the norm for a team that became known not only for developing top young talents but putting them on the field at their young age. It's a strategy European and South American clubs have long embraced but one that has been slow to take shape in the U.S.

The four teenagers the team signed since this time in 2016 have seen 160 MLS minutes.
