'They can't handle the heat': How brutal Texas summers give FC Dallas an upper hand over its opponents

FCD's training sessions continue to edge earlier and earlier into the morning as temperatures in Frisco go higher and higher. Though the team is traveling Wednesday ahead of Friday's match against Toronto FC, players already are hoping their bodies begin adjusting to the heat, which can give them the edge in future matches at Toyota Stadium.

"It's definitely something we're used to. Every summer in Texas gets brutal," defender-midfielder Ryan Hollingshead said. "We train at a good time in the morning and make sure we get in as cold as it can be throughout the day. But it's huge for us because other teams come in and they can't handle the heat and we're used to it.
