Despite their record, the Portland Timbers are a pretty good team. They started with 13 straight road games due to their stadium renovation but are 3-2-1 over their last 6 and their new striker, Brian Fernandez (club-record $10 mil transfer fee), has now scored 6 goals in his first 5 MLS starts. After this win over FCD, the Timbers sit 6 points behind FCD with 3 fewer games played. FCD is now 1-6-3 at Portland all time.

The point being, Portland is a lot better than the casual observer might think.
