Despite a furious fourth period effort, the Dallas Sidekicks fell to the Tacoma Stars, 7-4, mostly due to the heroics of the visitor's goalkeeper, David Waltman, who had fought off a serious injury earlier in the year to help get Tacoma back into the playoff hunt.

The game started off at a significantly higher tempo than most Sidekicks games as both teams came in fighting for the win. Tacoma needed the win to keep their playoff hopes alive, whereas Dallas was playing for two players: former legend Nick Stavrou, whose jersey was being retired at halftime, and Ricardinho, the team captain who according to Sidekicks play by play announcer Matt Thornton was probably playing his last professional game.
