Sidekicks move closer to playoff relevance with 9-5 win over the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas

With an overpowering second half, the Dallas Sidekicks beat the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas Saturday night at the Allen Events Center, 9-5, and showed that they can still assert themselves against some of the better teams in the league.

The win follows an overtime victory at the Tacoma Stars on February 24 and brings the Sidekicks (8-8) back to .500 on the season, although before that they had lost at RGV on February 17. All told, Dallas still trails both the Barracudas (10-5) and the Monterrey Flash (10-3) in the Southwest Division.

The Barracudas started the game with a goal in the first period and an early goal in the second to take a 2-0 lead, but Dallas responded with three straight goals in just over two minutes of play from veteran players as Carlos Videla, VcMor Eligwe and Jamie Lovegrove put the Sidekicks up, 3-2, although RGV eventually tied the game before half.
