The Oklahoma City Energy FC has announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Jose Barril, pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
A native of Madrid, Barril grew up as a member of Real Madrid’s youth set-up, eventually earning himself a spot with their third (Real Madrid C), who play in the lower tiers of Spanish soccer.
The 24-year-old left Madrid in 2013 in order to sign for Valencia club Ontinyent CF, who currently play in Spain’s 2B – Group 3 division. After only making one appearance for the side, Barril joined USL side the Harrisburg City Islanders, where he has spent the last three years with the club, making 80 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
