MLS had a half-day trade window on Sunday that saw a slew of deals, mostly to 2021 expansion side Austin FC. But FC Dallas managed to sneak a deal in there as well, as they sent defender Callum Montgomery to Minnesota United in exchange for a fourth round 2022 MLS SuperDraft pick.
Montgomery’s contract was not renewed for 2021 by FC Dallas, so essentially this is trading his MLS players rights to the Loons where they’ll get the first right of refusal to work out a deal with the young defender.
Additionally, FC Dallas could receive up to $50,000 in General Allocation Money if Montgomery meets certain performance metrics while with Minnesota United.
