FC Dallas will be facing New Mexico United at home in the next round of U.S. Open Cup action, following Thursday morning’s Round of 16 draw. It will be FCD’s second Open Cup match against a USL Championship side after taking down the OKC Energy FC in their first match of the tournament.
New Mexico United was one of the two lower-division sides to defeat an MLS opponent in the fourth round after beating the Colorado Rapids, 3-2, on the road in Commerce City, CO. They came out victorious after first leveling the match against the 10-men Rapids in stoppage time, then ousting the hosts 4-2 on penalties.
