FC Dallas signs Edwin Cerrillo as its 24th Homegrown Player

FC Dallas has announced Edwin Cerrillo as the 24th Homegrown Player in team history. The 18-year-old had been linked with a professional contract for some time and has impressed through the preseason.

A winger for much of his career, Cerrillo moved to a holding midfield role in the FC Dallas U-19 side. Cerrillo has played a more advanced role with the first team in preseason in line with head coach Luchi Gonzalez's favored use of dual eights.

Cerrillo had committed to playing for the University of Maryland but was expected to pursue a professional career instead.
