FC Dallas was eliminated from the 2018 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in the Round of 16 on Saturday night by Sporting KC in a 3-2 loss. This was the 4th time Sporting has eliminated FC Dallas form the US Open Cup, all four meetings coming in Kansas City.
Dallas scored first in the 18th minute when Carlos Gruezo scored the third goal of his FCD career. Sporting tied it at 1 on a sequence of chances from a corner, Daniel Salloi eventually putting a tap-in away.
Sporting took a 2-1 lead when Salloi again scored, this time from just above the penalty spot.
