'Crazy items,' modern challenges and competition: How Dallas-area pro sports teams navigate the evolving concessions game

A few minutes before noon on opening day, just after the gates opened, Alex Posani and a friend quickly entered Globe Life Park and found the latest local concession stand craze: The Fowl Pole.

The 32 oz., nearly two-foot-long chicken tender, which comes on a bed of waffle fries and with two dipping sauces, is the newest creative culinary item to debut at the park.

The longtime Rangers fan and Richardson resident Posani wanted badly to try it, strategizing with a methodical approach to finish it with a friend throughout the game.

"Hopefully I can conquer it," Posani said just before taking the first bite of the first Fowl Pole in Rangers history.
