CONCACAF cancels U17 Women's Championship amid security concerns

Three DFW athletes will be returning early from the U17 CONCACAF Women's Championship after the confederation canceled the tournament citing security concerns in host nation Nicaragua.

FC Dallas' Reyna Reyes (Mexico) and Diana Ordonez, as well as Solar SC's Samantha Meza (both USA) have been in the Nicaraguan capital, Managua, where the tournament is hosted. Protests in the city against the Nicaraguan government have seen a number of people killed, including a journalist shot live on air, and hundreds reported injured.

Reyes scored in Mexico's 8-0 win over the host nation on Thursday, and was due to play this evening against Puerto Rico.
