We recently saw the announcement for this week's 2016 MLS All Star roster, and as usual it was widely met with criticism. Portland fans are rightly outraged that Diego Valeri was snubbed. The two best teams in MLS, Dallas and Colorado, each only had one player named until Kellyn Acosta was added this morning. Matt Besler, who is no longer a regular starter for Sporting Kansas City, was named before pulling out due to injury. Plus the usual point of turning the league's showcase into a popularity contest among aging names with little productivity. When MLS are battling against a reputation of being a retirement league, and trying to grow new markets, surely you want to show off your league's young talent and athleticism.
Are the All Stars really MLS' best XI?
