2016 Detroit Lions Team Outlook

After having success in 2014 due to one of the best defenses in the league, Detroit fell to 7-9 last year while allowing 118 more points than 2014. The Lions finished 23rd in the NFL in points allowed (400) and 18th in yards allowed. The loss of DE Ndamukong Suh was a big part of their failure, but it falls on their front office as they decided not to resign him. Jim Caldwell returns for his third season as head coach. He went 18-14 with Detroit and 44-36 in his five-year coaching career with three playoff appearances. Teryl Austin will have another chance to run the defense after taking over the job in 2014.
