Adam Schefter reported yesterday that TE Vance McDonald had been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers from the San Francisco 49ers. While this isn’t a blockbuster deal, the Steelers have been in search of a TE that could fill Heath Miller’s shoes since he retired.
They tried bringing in Ladarius Green in 2016, but injuries kept him from being the player that they expected. Jesse James has done a good job of filling the void, but they don’t believe that he’s the TE that can help them reach their goals of a Super Bowl.
The Steelers have made a point that McDonald will be battling for the starting job.
