What The Papers Say - 9 October

Ahead of their crunch World Cup qualifier in Cardiff tonight, Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has reiterated that Seamus Coleman is as big a loss for his side as Gareth Bale is for Wales.

The two nations go head-to-head in the Welsh capital each looking to secure a top-two finish in Group D at the expense of the other.

Coleman is still recovering from the broken leg he sustained in the first qualifier between the Republic and Wales in Dublin in March, while Real Madrid forward Bale has been ruled out with a calf problem.
