There is plenty of reaction to Everton’s victory over Stoke in Sunday’s newspapers – and the focus is on one man.

The Mail on Sunday singles out matchwinner Wayne Rooney as the “most influential” man on the pitch as the Blues launched their Premier League campaign by beating the Potters 1-0.

Rooney is hailed for his “enduring capacity to change and define games” in the Sunday Telegraph, which also includes a graphic detailing the slick passing move that finished with the Blues Academy graduate heading beyond Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.
