Wayne Rooney 'is on Everton's shortlist to become new manager if they sack under-pressure Frank Lampard'... one year after he 'rejected' the chance to be interviewed for the role as Rafael Benitez's replacement

Wayne Rooney could reportedly get a second shot at becoming Everton manager should the Toffees sack Frank Lampard.

The former Everton player revealed in January last year that he turned down the chance to replace Rafael Benitez in the dug-out while he was managing Derby County.

It has now been reported by the Sun, that Rooney is on owner Farhad Moshiri's shortlist should they sack the D.C. United manager's former England team-mate Lampard after their recent poor run of form.
