Everton Under-23s boss David Unsworth praised the tempo of his side’s display after they recorded a stunning 6-3 away win over Reading to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League 2 table.
The young Blues found themselves two goals down inside 20 minutes after Andrija Novakovich’s quick-fire brace, but Oumar Niasse’s 21-minute hat-trick meant Unsworth’s side went into the half-time interval ahead.
The Toffees continued to assert their dominance in the second period with goals from Kieran Dowell, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Liam Walsh, meaning Thomas McIntyre's late header was a mere consolation for the hosts.
