City have been chasing the Everton defender all summer but the Toffees have been holding out for a £50million fee for the 22-year-old.
Now it appears as though Pep Guardiola has got his man, with UEFA including Stones on City's Champions League squad for their qualifying clash with Steaua Bucharest.
According to the governing body, the centre-back will wear the number 24 shirt at the Etihad.
City and Everton have yet to confirm a deal has been reached.
