Southampton moved into the top half of the Premier League after beating former manager Ronald Koeman’s Everton on his return to St. Mary’s.
Charlie Austin scored the only goal of the game after 41 seconds to give the Saints a memorable victory over the Toffees. The away side struggled to recover from a disastrous start and are without a win in their last three league games.
Everton remain in seventh place in the table and sit five points behind Tottenham in the final European qualification position.
