Sean Dyche reveals how former Forest stars kept him in football after he was sacked by Burnley

There are strong connections between Everton boss Sean Dyche and Nottingham Forest, where he goes on Sunday for a six-pointer his team cannot afford to lose.

Dyche started his playing career at the City Ground under Brian Clough but less well known is his close relationship with many of the club’s former players, attending their regular Thursday lunch club during his nine months out of work.

He found it therapeutic to sit with European Cup winners John Robertson, Frank Clark and Garry Birtles to talk football and swap stories at a time he was hurting after being sacked by Burnley.
