Ronald Koeman's inspired changes and Gareth Barry goal boosts Everton

Everton handed manager Ronald Koeman his first win with a 2-1 comeback at West Brom on Saturday. A match heading for disaster turned into a very good win due to an early tactical intervention by the new boss. In the end, the margin of victory could and probably should have been wider.

Positives

Everton stood firm when West Brom pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages. It was an unfamiliar but pleasing sight as those in yellow blocked shots and made vital tackles and interceptions. This willingness to stand firm and grind out the result was every bit as impressive as the flowing football evident for Kevin Mirallas' first half equaliser.
