Ronald Koeman has warned Ross Barkley he is entering a critical phase of his career and challenged the Everton midfielder to deliver his finest season.
It is five years since David Moyes handed the then 17-year-old a Premier League debut at Goodison Park against Queens Park Rangers and the talk in the intervening years has been that Barkley could become one of the finest players of his generation.
There have been occasions when Barkley has looked majestic, an explosive talent who should be an England regular, but last year fizzled out, as he failed to score in the Premier League after February 6.
