Romelu Lukaku admits an English club 'was really keen to buy me' this summer as he credits Ronald Koeman with keeping him at Everton

Everton talisman Romelu Lukaku has revealed that a Premier League outfit were 'really keen' to recruit him over the summer, only for the Toffees to prevent a sale.

The 23-year-old striker was linked with Chelsea during pre-season, with the Blues strongly touted to land their ex-employee, after netting 45 goals in two campaigns since leaving in a deal worth £28million.

Serie A giants Juventus were also said to be interested in the Belgian's services before parting with £75.95m (€90m) to sign Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain.

Toffees manager Ronald Koeman - who recently angered supporters after claiming that Lukaku is good enough to play for Barcelona - is credited as keeping the Antwerp-born star on Merseyside.
