Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has no case to answer after being accused of racially abusing Mason Holgate in the Merseyside derby.

The FA have closed the investigation and cleared the Brazilian of any wrongdoing.

Firmino was clearly upset after being shoved into the advertising hoardings by Holgate and launched a verbal onslaught. Holgate reacted furiously, believing his opponent had racially abused him but referee Bobby Madley stated in his report that he had not heard the forward use such language.

Television evidence after the game prompted lip-reading experts to claim Firmino appeared to say: 'Es maluco, filho da puta?
