Playing with verve and conviction and undeterred by falling a goal behind after 21 minutes, Everton maintained an unbeaten start to the season with a dominant display over Middlesbrough.
It is the Club’s best opening to a league campaign since 1978/79 when, after five games in one of those neat quirks, Boro were also beaten at Goodison Park.
The goalscorers here were Gareth Barry, Seamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku and the performance overall was irresistible, with Idrissa Gana Gueye and Ross Barkley making distinguished contributions and Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams marshalling a defence which has conceded only three goals in the Premier League this season.
