Police Scotland investigating incident from women's Old Firm clash that saw Rangers assistant manager Craig McPherson appear to headbutt Celtic boss Fran Alonso on Monday

Police Scotland are investigating after the Rangers assistant manager Craig McPherson appeared to headbutt Celtic manager Fran Alonso at the end of Monday’s Scottish Women’s Premier League match.

The Scottish FA are waiting for the referee’s report and will also look into the incident.

Rangers were on the verge of securing a dramatic victory at Broadwood until a stoppage-time equaliser from Caitlin Hayes saw the rivals share the points.

Alonso, who has worked under Ronald Koeman and Mauricio Pochettino at Everton and Southampton respectively, told Sky Sports he was called a ‘little rat’, as the footage was shown to him afterwards.
