Everton travel to Southampton this weekend and watching with extra interest will be former Premier League defender Ken Monkou.
Monkou spent seven years at The Dell and, given his nationality and upbringing in the Dutch Eredivisie, has developed a friendship dating back 30 years with Toffees boss Ronald Koeman.
“I played against him many times,” remembers the 51-year-old. “When he was at PSV, I was playing for Feyenoord [in 1986]. He was playing in the same side as Ruud Gullit - they had an unbelievable team. Whenever he was on the ball, we knew he could pass it like a torpedo over 60 yards!
