Former Everton defender John Heitinga turns 34 today and to celebrate, we’ve picked out one of his goals for the Blues in front of the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End.
The Dutch international was the Club’s fourth signing of the 2009 summer transfer window, arriving from Atletico Madrid for an initial fee of £6million.
Despite being only 25 when he moved to Goodison Park, Heitinga brought a wealth of experience with him, having come through the ranks at Ajax before moving to Spain with Atletico.
Heitinga quickly became a firm fans' favourite with his tenacious and full-blooded displays.
