Mayor Joe Anderson has reiterated how Everton’s proposed new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock would be a “fantastic deal” for the city of Liverpool.
The Club confirmed at Tuesday’s General Meeting that it is close to an agreement with Liverpool City Council that will see the authority support “two-thirds” of the money needed to build a new stadium on the waterfront in north Liverpool.
Mayor Anderson spoke at the General Meeting about how the “financial returns” the council would get in helping the Blues fund the project would benefit the whole city.
He said: “Let me say this to people who ask why Everton Football Club should benefit from Liverpool City Council at a time when Liverpool faces austerity.
