A major incident has been declared after huge fire in a Liverpool four-storey building forced hundreds of people to be evacuated from their homes - with the smoke being seen over Everton's FA Cup tie against Luton Town.

The building is said to be 'showing signs of collapse' after firefighters were called to blaze on Fox Street at 2.18pm and arrived to find a four-storey building measuring 100 metres by 50 metres 'well alight'.

Fire crews are now evacuating buildings, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said. At 4pm it was declared a major incident.

There are no reports of casualties, the fire service added.
