Frank Lampard has admitted Everton's 5-0 capitulation opened his eyes to the full extent of the issues he must solve to banish relegation fears.
Though Everton have games in hand on the teams around them at the bottom, the run of form they are in - which pre-dates Lampard's arrival 40 days ago - is so bad that fears on Merseyside are growing that they could finish in the bottom three.
Lampard has done his best to not get caught up in crisis talk but he accepted that the way in which Everton crumbled after going behind on Monday cannot be repeated in crucial home games against Wolves tomorrow and Newcastle next Thursday.
