Everton offer Leighton Baines a new one-year deal and plot to let him see out his career at Goodison Park as they look to extend his 13-year association

Everton have given Leighton Baines the opportunity to see out his career at Goodison Park with the offer of a new one-year contract.

Baines has given Everton remarkable service since he joined them in July 2007, repaying the £6million fee they paid Wigan Athletic many times over. He has made 417 appearances and, at his peak, he was one of the best left-backs in Europe.

He has found starting opportunities harder to come by in recent seasons, due to the signing of Lucas Digne, but his importance to the club is huge and he remains an important and influential figure within the squad.
