Everton legend Dixie Dean's life story to be turned into a movie as Toby Kebbell signs on to play the lead role

A movie dramatising the life of William Ralph 'Dixie' Dean will begin filming later this year.

The biopic aims to reveal how one of English football's most legendary figures, played by Toby Kebbell, dealt with a series of little-known mental health issues.

It will centre around how his family, particularly his daughter Barbara, helped him cope following his retirement from the game.

Barbara, acting as a consultant, will play a pivotal role in the making of the film and hopes it will celebrate her father's career as well as shining a light on mental-health issues which were not talked about in the 1920s.
