Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford forced off with an injury just before half-time of Burnley defeat - with 21-year-old Joao Virginia replacing him for his Premier League debut

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had to be substituted just before half-time during his side's 2-1 home defeat by Burnley.

The 27-year-old attempted to play on but was unable to continue and was withdrawn in the 43rd minute.

Pickford injured himself as he stretched to try and keep out an effort from Johann Gudmundsson, which hit the post.

Virginia, a Portuguese youth international, joined Everton from Arsenal in 2018 and previously had a loan spell at Reading.
