Everton confirm they are 'working alongside Merseyside Police' after reported racist abuse directed towards Arsenal player on Sunday

Everton have confirmed that they are working with the Merseyside Police following a reported incident of racist abuse during their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The incident reportedly took place in the first quarter of an hour of the Premier League match at Goodison Park on Sunday.

In a statement released on the club website, the Toffees said: 'Everton Football Club is working alongside Merseyside Police to investigate a reported incident of racist abuse directed towards an opposition player during Sunday’s Premier League match with Arsenal at Goodison Park.

'Everton condemns all forms of discrimination and we will seek the strongest possible sanctions to tackle anti-social and or criminal behaviour, including club bans and criminal prosecution.
