Everton boss Ronald Koeman admits club's need to strengthen in January is greater after Yannick Bolasie injury

Ronald Koeman has admitted Everton's need to strengthen in January has assumed greater significance after Yannick Bolasie was ruled out for the season.

The Congolese winger ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United and is set to be operated on next week. He has been assessed by a specialist in London and his right knee remains in a brace.

Bolasie, who arrived in August for a club record £30million, is a player who Koeman has regarded as being integral to his plans and his absence has left the Everton manager with a headache.
