Everton are in further talks with Burnley over a deal for Maxwel Cornet as Frank Lampard continues to reshape his side - and he's already raided Turf Moor this summer to land centre back James Tarkowski on a free transfer!

Everton are holding further discussions with Burnley over a deal for winger Maxwel Cornet.

Director of football Kevin Thelwell has skipped the club's US tour to accelerate transfer activity and Cornet was not in the Burnley squad for last night’s friendly against Shrewsbury.

The 25-year-old is a target Everton have discussed since May to replace Richarlison, who left for £60million to join Spurs earlier this month.

Cornet has a £17.5m release clause but Everton are understood to be proposing a delayed payment structure to their bid.

Were a deal to be finalised between the two clubs, Cornet would become the Toffees' second arrival of the summer, after his team-mate James Tarkowski swapped Turf Moor for Goodison Park on a free transfer earlier this month.
