Everton 1-0 Newcastle: Ten-men Toffees scramble a vital three points thanks to Alex Iwobi's 99TH-MINUTE strike after midfielder Allan was shown a red card

Ten-men Everton scrambled three points in a 1-0 victory over Newcastle at Goodison Park on Thursday, thanks to Alex Iwobi's late strike.

Play was halted early into the second half as a pitch invader tied themselves to the Everton goal post around the neck. Stewards required bolt cutters to free him before the police were brought on to carry him off the pitch.

Allan was given his marching orders in the 83rd minute for a wild and reckless challenge on Allan Saint-Maximim. Referee Craig Pawson initially showed the Brazilian a yellow but after a VAR check was urged to check the pitchside monitor and overturned his decision to send him off.
