Dramatic late winner against Arsenal will help Everton 'be positive about the future', insists Rafa Benitez following alarming slump at Goodison Park

Rafa Benitez urged Everton's fans to be 'positive about the future' after his players halted a desperate run of form in spectacular fashion.

Superb late goals from Richarlison and Demarai Gray enabled Everton to beat Arsenal and end a sequence of eight games without a win. More importantly, it transformed the mood of supporters – some of whom arrived at Goodison Park determined to protest about the club's direction.

Marcel Brands, the Sporting Director who quit on Sunday, had said in his departure statement that there were people behind the scenes with different visions of which way to take the club but owner Farhad Moshiri has put faith in Benitez to oversee a transformation.
