Cottee: Why Rom Has Excelled Under Koeman

Tony Cottee, the last Everton player to net 17 goals in a Premier League season before Romelu Lukaku, has his reasons why the Belgian striker has flourished under Ronald Koeman this season.

Since signing for Everton, initially on loan, Lukaku’s goals record year-on-year has progressively increased.

In all competitions, he hit 16 in 2013/14, 20 in 2014/15, 25 in 2015/16 and 26 during the most recent campaign.

Lukaku’s goals-to-game ratio over the last season was 1.5 (26 in 39 appearances) - his career best, including his prolific spell at hometown club Anderlecht in his formative years as a top-level centre-forward.
