Celtic's Aussie miracle worker Ange Postecoglou was on Everton's hit list as Premier League strugglers looked for replacement ahead of sacking Frank Lampard

While former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa looms as the favourite to replace the sacked Frank Lampard, Everton have also sounded out former Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou.

Having sacked Lampard via phone on Tuesday, Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is now hoping that Bielsa can revive the mood around Goodison Park in the same way he did at Leeds.

Postecoglou is enjoying a wave of success at Scottish Premiership club Celtic and was sounded out by Everton as a possible replacement for the sacked Lampard

The 67-year-old Argentine coach restored Leeds to the Premier League after a 16-year absence by revitalising the club and guiding them to promotion within two seasons.
