Brighton Women manager Jens Scheuer leaves his position at the club despite only being appointed in December as the German oversees the shortest tenure in WSL history

Jens Scheuer has left his role as Brighton Women manager by mutual consent after just two months in charge.

The Seagulls appointed Scheuer in December after a lengthy search following the sacking of Hope Powell in October.

Scheuer took charge of just six matches, which included a 6-2 thrashing by Aston Villa and a 3-0 defeat against bottom-of-the-table Leicester.

‘Together with Jens we've not reached this decision lightly," said Brighton technical director and former Everton defender David Weir.

‘And while we appreciate he has given his all in the role this feels like the right step forward for all parties involved.
