Ross Barkley paid tribute to Sid Benson after captaining Everton to a 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the EFL Cup.
The Blues midfielder fired home a cleverly-taken free-kick to add to Aaron Lennon’s opener and lifted his shirt to reveal a message reading ‘R.I.P Sid Benson’.
The former Toffees scout was the one who spotted a young Barkley and took him to Everton, and the stand-in skipper said he wanted to pay his own special tribute.
“It was just a little message for Sid and his family,” Barkley told evertontv.
