Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit believes Mikel Arteta made the right call to offload Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the forward 'had not been the same player since signing his £350,000-per-week contract'

Emmanuel Petit has backed Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on his decision to offload outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the transfer window.

The Gabon international joined Barcelona on a free transfer on Monday after his contract was terminated by Arsenal.

The 32-year-old had not played for the Gunners since a five-minute cameo against Everton on December 6 and had been stripped of the captaincy following a disciplinary breach.
