Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists he 'makes every decision with the club's best interests at heart', as he speaks on his decision to drop Aaron Ramsdale for new signing David Raya

Mikel Arteta has defended his decision to drop Aaron Ramsdale for David Raya as the Arsenal boss insisted he always does 'what's best for the team'.

Ramsdale was surprising left on the bench in favour of new signing Raya ahead of Arsenal's 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

Leandro Trossard scored the solitary goal in the 69th minute of the clash, giving Arteta's side their fourth league win of the season, with Raya maintaining a clean sheet.

But the decision to axe Ramsdale for Raya, a £3m loan signing from Brentford, was met with criticism from some sections of the Gunners fanbase.
