Andros Townsend steps up for Everton in win over Norwich as Toffees dream of European football after taking victories in opening three home games for the first time since 1989

Everton fans might be able to revel in the club breaking new ground, but Rafa Benitez cannot. For the first time in the Premier League era, Goodison Park has witnessed victories in its first three matches — something no Toffees manager has achieved since Colin Harvey’s side beat Tottenham, Southampton and Manchester United at the start of 1989-90.

Saturday’s victory over Norwich equalled that run and moved Benitez’s side to within a point of Liverpool and top spot. For all that appears to be going right, though, there are still concerns for the Spaniard.
