Sam Allardyce is hopeful Blues midfielder James McCarthy could take part in pre-season training this summer.
While Allardyce emphasised that the Club’s medical staff will have the final say on when McCarthy returns to training from a broken leg, the boss said that “with a bit of luck” the combative midfielder will be able to take part in Everton’s preparations for the new campaign.
The Republic of Ireland international suffered a double leg break in Everton’s 1-1 draw with West Brom at Goodison Park on 20 January after a brave challenge to deny Salomon Rondon a goalscoring opportunity.
